Families with children are much more likely to be food insecure. We focus on providing meals and snacks to kids when they are most at-risk of going hungry – during the summer months and at various after-school programs.
Summer is a critical time for children’s academic and physical well-being. Many kids who rely on school meals, struggle to get enough to eat during school breaks.
Beyond Hunger partners with Oak Park Education Foundation through BASE CAMP and with Oak Park River Forest High School through their summer school programs. Together we provide nutritious lunches and snacks to participants who would normally receive free or reduced-priced lunches during the school year.
