Generous donations every week from individuals, groups, and congregations from our community.
Millions of pounds of food go unused each year in Illinois.
Beyond our primary goal of feeding hungry neighbors, Beyond Hunger believes in the importance of our work to help sustain our environment. We are committed to reducing food waste by working with retail, farmers market, area farms and grocery store partners to divert safe, edible food from landfills and provide it to people in need. In 2019, food donations to our Pantry account for 48% of the food that is distrubited to the monthly 1,400 families who rely on our services.
Fiscal agent of USDA commodities. Provide free transportation, some free produce, and at-cost wholesale products. Purchases through Greater Chicago Food Depository — GCFD at an average cost of fifty-five cents per pound.
USDA commodities are provided monthly through the Illinois Emergency Food Assistance Program.
