From the Front Lines: Your commitment is part of our success
Over the past few weeks our partners and our community have stepped up in some unique and amazing ways—helping us to remain successful while serving our hungry neighbors quickly and efficiently.
Bags
As we moved to a drive-thru and as our home delivery program tripled we needed more bags. Trader Joes gave us an additional 600 paper bags bags to help with home delivery. Organizations such as Census 2020, the Oak Park Public Library, Coin Laundry Association and Meetings & Incentives Worldwide,Inc. have donated reusalbe flat bottomed grocery bags—essential to help walk up clients carry their grab-and-go groceries home.
Businesses
We are fundraising actively to purchase the valuable nutrition our neighbors need. Our local business community is stepping in to be part of this effort. Thanks to Kettlestrings in Oak Park for donating 10% of all their curbside sales from April 1 - April 7. Keep your eye on our social media channels for exciting details on how The Right Spice is supporting Beyond Hunger. And thanks to our River Forest Verizon Store for including us in a TCC Cares Grant which will provide 6,000 meals.
Masks
Our pantry volunteers need to work inside. And as the coronavirus risks increased, our need for masks increased. We put a call out quietly on social media and our community responded. Thanks to our mask makers for helping our team stay safe while working in the pantry.
Data
We have been working behind the scenes to make our data as efficient as possible too. Our Salesforce consulting firm Exponent Partners has put in extra hours, freeing up our internal team to spend more time on the front line inside the pantry.
